The Coastal Science Center is located on Hutchinson Island. Situated between the
Atlantic Ocean and the Indian River Lagoon, the 40 acre parcel houses
the Society's headquarters, library, nature trails and its newly
completed visitor's center. With its coastal hardwood hammocks and
mangrove forest communities, the site provides excellent
opportunities for education and research aimed at increasing the
general knowledge of these unique environments.
The Frances Langford Visitor
Center welcomes the general public by
showcasing marine displays and exhibits designed to fascinate both
young and old. Aquariums, touch tanks, educational videos, mounted
fish displays, interactive computers and replica of the Saballariid
reef are only some of the highlights found. The Center also includes
a gift store stocked with a bounty of marine related books, gifts,
artwork and T-shirts.
