Karla Bakery History

The Gonzalez’s family tradition and history began when three outgoing brothers Benny, Alfredo and Israel entered the world of pastry confectionery. Ingenuity and hardworking knocked down some walls and opened new doors in the business world. After some hard work and dedication, the three brothers established their own bakeries, created their own recipes and gained the public’s recognition, which proved very valuable in the years to come. These recipes have been passed down from generation to generation to generation.

Benny’s creativity and rejuvenating capabilities have earned him honorary membership in the American Culinary Federation. Benny has also been presented with various trophies from the Fraternity of Executive Chefs of the State of Nevada in recognition for his outstanding creativity.

Benny’s Talent was once again put to the test in 1984 when he was asked to bake president Ronald Reagan’s birthday cake. President Regan acknowledged Benny with a letter from the White House in grateful recognition for his talent.

After years of separation, the Gonzalez family reunited in the United States and it was then that Miguel decided to preserve and expand his father’s legacy. As a result, the first Karla Bakery opened in Miami, Florida in1989 under the leadership of Mr. Miguel and Mrs. Karla Gonzalez.

What started with very humble roots has now turned into a chain of bakeries that strive to keep the quality of their pastries and baked goods. “The best advertisement is good quality”, says Miguel Gonzalez who is proud to have never used any means of publicity. Miguel would rather spend publicity money in purchasing better and more refined ingredients for his baked products.

In charge of quality control are Miguel and Karla, Mr. Gregorio Gonzalez and Ariel Gonzalez (Miguel’s brother and son respectably). Besides quality Control, this qualified team makes sure the traditional recipes remain true to themselves and as good as always.
